Virginia Commonwealth University

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is a public research university based in Richmond, Virginia. VCU was established in 1838 as the medical department of Hampden–Sydney College, which became the Medical College of Virginia in 1854. In 1968, the General Assembly of Virginia merged MCV with the Richmond Professional Institute, established in 1917, to establish the Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2018, more than 31,000 students will pursue 217 degree and certificate programs through 11 VCU schools and three colleges. The VCU Health System supports the education, science and patient care of the university. The Virginia Commonwealth University Global Student Success Program is devised to make sure students obtain the required abilities to stand out in their undergraduate or graduate degree program. The GSSP is a university-level academic program meant to support global students as they adapt to life in the United States.
