A full array of health and wellness facilities, miles of campus trails, and the 18,000-square-foot HRC (Hamel Rec Center), complete with a bouldering wall, cycling studio, and outdoor pool, are offered on one of the securest campuses in the country.

A classic New England college town, that's Durham, home to UNH's main residential campus. It has one of the securest and greenest campuses in the country, hemmed in by fantastic scenery. On weekends, students can hop a bus to the bustling artistic community of Portsmouth or the Atlantic coast, carpool with friends to the iconic White Mountains, or take the train (the station's right on campus) to Boston. Scholarships are awarded to students for three reasons:

• Students demonstrate through their high school careers that they possess the academic abilities to fully benefit from the academic opportunities available to students at UNH.
• Students demonstrate that they can contribute to the dynamic communities found at UNH.
• Offers some incentive for talented students to enroll at UNH.

Whether a student chooses to apply test optional or not, academic performance is the most critical factor in awarding merit scholarships at the University. Scholarships are intended to recognize, and reward behaviors valued by UNH. These include but are not limited to: rigor of curriculum, engagement in community, citizenship, co-curricular engagement, etc.
