The University of Minnesota has 4,000 faculty members, including members of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering and the Academy of Medicine, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, among many others. At U of M's Twin Cities students come together to socialize and learn from each other in more than 800 student groups, from the Alpine Ski Team and the Black Student Union, to the Bass Fishing Team and the Capoeira Club. It also has an active Fraternity and Sorority community. In addition, students can develop their strengths and leadership skills through service learning and other community engagement opportunities.

Set on the banks of the Mississippi River and surrounded by a vibrant metropolitan city with agricultural roots, the U of M's Twin Cities campus is a location for explorers in all fields. It's centered in one of the nation's most bike-friendly cities.

All international freshman and transfer students attending on an F1 visa who are admitted for fall admission are automatically considered for a Global Excellence Scholarship. For the 2020-2021 academic year, international freshmen can receive scholarships of $25,000, $15,000 or $10,000 per year for up to four years. Transfer students may receive $10,000 per year for up to three years when entering the University in the fall semester. Transfer students entering in spring semester will be considered for scholarships only on a funds-available basis.

Awards are competitive and based on academic merit. Students selected for awards are among the best in their class and show a record of very strong academic preparation. There is no separate scholarship application required; students are considered based on an overall assessment of their application. Students must maintain their F-1 immigration status to remain eligible for these awards.  Read less
