With the Florida sun beaming down every month of the year, students' activities at UF won’t be restricted to the classroom. There are almost 1,000 student-run associations; students can expect the calendar to be full all year long. Besides this, with an effective student body, recreation is a big part of the life cycle on campus.
The university presents more than 60 intramural and club sports, personal training, and one of the most outstanding fitness facilities in the country. Gators thirst for experience and success can be quenched in the lab. Their hunger can be satisfied at any of more than 45 dining spots on campus, which include domestic brands, vegetarian and vegan choices. But it’s more than just where students eat it’s where their food comes from.
On-campus, the university is committed to local and organic vendors, doing their part to help UF become carbon neutral by 2025. The University of Florida has a 2,000-acre campus with more than 900 buildings, including the first Platinum-certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building in Florida.
The Florida Department of Education offers the Florida Bright Futures Scholarships for high school graduates.
Scholarships are awards based on academic achievement, but financial need may also be considered.
Scholarships do not have to be repaid, and do not require recipients to perform services to receive them. They are considered gift aid. Scholarships are awarded by various sources such as the university, the state, and individual colleges and departments, and private companies and individuals.
