The Lyle School of Engineering has about 2000 students, split roughly evenly between graduate and undergraduate. Lyle is built on the SMU campus in the center of Dallas, Texas, ranked 14th most wonderful campus in the U.S. by the Princeton Review. Students have all they need on campus, whilst also being able to explore the flourishing and exciting city of Dallas. Dallas is also home to many major companies and is a centre of commerce and culture, and over 4,400 internships are made available yearly at some of these organizations to students of SMU. The school Southern Methodist University - Lyle School of Engineering presents a number of dual and joint degrees including the Engineering/MBA and Engineering Entrepreneurship, both in partnership with the Cox School of Business. As well as the exceptional amenities Lyle has to present, students have access to larger SMU campus amenities including on-site accommodation and modern sports centers. Students can join a huge array of competitive and recreational clubs, or simply enjoy watching SMU basketball in the 7000-seat arena. SMU also hosts the Willis M. Tate Distinguished Lecture Series, which gives students the chance to see inspirational speakers including U.S. presidents, senators and foreign leaders.
SMU offers a limited number of undergraduate academic scholarships to students who are international nationals who have excellent academic records. Although international students are not eligible for federal or USC-based financial assistance, they may receive merit scholarships and/or other departmental awards. In addition, foreign students can apply for some private loans with an eligible co-signator who is a U.S. citizen.
