Started in 1857, San Jose State University’s history commenced before the Civil War, as the first State Normal School, which trained teachers who tutored the people of a young California state. Now, SJSU is a thorough, active campus that anchors the 10th major city in the United States, and Spartans are discovered around the world.

The university is located in one of the most pioneering regions in the world. One of the largest metropolises in the U.S., San Jose is located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Coastal redwood forests, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and San Francisco are all about an hour away.

ASU offers merit-based scholarships to foreign students who demonstrate a high degree of academic achievement. International Freshman and F-1 transfer students could be eligible for a New American University Scholarship, which deals with college expenses.
