Salem State presents many ways for students to get involved on- and off-campus through student groups and associations. Groups manage their own events through an unbiased platform. The university offers its students a chance to participate in intramural athletic clubs and in a variety of competitive intercollegiate conferences. Salem State fields men's and women's groups in 15 sports, plus 10 intramural/club teams. Athletic teams contest in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III, the Little East Conference (LEC), the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC), the National Collegiate Athletic Conference (NCAA) Division III, and the New England College Athletic Conference (NECAC).Positioned just 15 miles north of Boston in the well-known seacoast town of Salem, Massachusetts, Salem State has Five sites spread across 115 acres. Originated in 1626, Salem, the City of Peace, is a small city with a big history. Salem is a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly city where its residents, and over a million tourists yearly, can easily visit historic architecture, unique attractions, world famous museums, and an eclectic mix of stores and dining options. And, with easy access to public conveyance including direct contact to Boston Salem is a great city in which to live, work and study.
Salem State University Scholarships Awarded to some incoming students who meet eligibility requirements. Students awarded academic scholarships must maintain a full-time course load and meet academic progress goals. Salem State University Grants Need-based grants are awarded on a funds-available basis. Grants may not be awarded to a student annually and are pro-rated based on the number of credits in which a student is enrolled.
