Rhode Island School of Design

Rhode Island School of Design is a private, non-profit college established in Providence, RI in 1877, making it one of the first art and design colleges in the United States. Approximately 2,500 students from all over the world are engaged in liberal arts studies and intensive, studio-based learning at RISD (pronounced RIZ-dee), where they receive bachelor's or master's degrees in 21 majors. Every year more than 5,800 children and adults also have access to our advanced studio facilities through RISD, CE courses. RISD students are encouraging each other to reach their own boundaries in the studio. Since the best creative work takes place in an open, inclusive atmosphere and sometimes emerges late at night, Rhode Island School of Design provides ready access to studios and other workspaces. Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarship is offered by Rhode Island School of Design which is open to international and U.S. students who are in their final two years of undergraduate study or are in graduate programs at a LAAB-accredited institution. Students must be studying landscape architecture with a demonstrated interest and aptitude in the design of play environments.
