New York Film Academy
The New York Film Academy was established in 1992 by veteran producer Jerry Sherlock, who produced classics such as The Search for Red October. Encouraged by his friends who wanted to send their children to film school, but considered the rates too high, Sherlock built a school that was not only affordable but most importantly, focused on the idea of doing the learning. Blending a combination of conventional film school teaching with a modern approach, the Academy emphasizes coursework focused on students actually going out and making films as part of their coursework. Students compose, produce, direct, and edit their own original films while also working as crew members on their fellow classmates' films to obtain comprehensive on-set experience.
