IUPUI can trace its history back to 1891 when Indiana University offered classes for the very first time in Indianapolis. In the decades that followed, both IU and Purdue have been committed to providing higher education opportunities in Indianapolis, offering programs in liberal arts, medicine, and more. However, the two universities worked separately before then-mayor Richard Lugar called for a large state university in Indianapolis in 1968. As a result, Indiana University and Purdue University combined their several programs and schools to form IUPUI in 1969.
The university is home to 17 Indiana University and Purdue University Colleges, including the prestigious IU Kelley Business School and the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology. Indiana University-Purdue University offers admission on a rolling basis round the year and requires a non refundable application fee of 65 USD from its undergraduate and graduate applicants, respectively. The institute is a lightly selective university in the country which observes a high acceptance rate of around 81%.
IUPUI offers a variety of scholarships to international students. Most admission-based scholarships require that you maintain a GPA of 3.0 to renew the scholarships from year to year.
