CMU offers students a personal learning journey that will require much more than the classes they take. Involvement in a variety of groups and organizations is not only an indication of academic achievement but also another outlet for students to connect with their fellow CMU Chippewas and share their views and ideas on cultural, recreational, professional, and social issues through CMU's nearly 400 student organizations. Whether intramural or club sports, theatre, dance, fraternity and sorority, social activism, volunteering, or any other type, the student organizations of CMU provide a forum for continued success outside the classroom. They are building leaders, not for tomorrow, but for today.

The CMU campus is situated in the heart of Mount Pleasant. There aren't many places like Mount Pleasant. It's a healthy, relaxing atmosphere that gives a small-town feel to all the events and attractions of the city twice its size. From dining and golf and canoeing to skydiving, students are going to find something fun to do.

Scholarships are given to students for high school academic success, leadership displays, multicultural awareness promotion and more. To those who achieve a certain GPA and ACT score, some are automatically given. On a competitive basis, others are awarded. Students at CMU receive approximately $309 million in financial aid, more than $50 million of that in scholarships alone, about 85 percent of all students receive some kind of financial aid or scholarships.
