Classes at Dundee are tutored by academic and industry specialists, and the standard of teaching was credited with the award of a gold rating in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

The university is well-known for its research. The 2014 Research Excellence Framework (2014) described 76 percent of Dundee's research as ‘world-leading' or ‘globally renowned'. The Careers Service at Dundee helps students in getting a graduate job. Students can take part in relevant volunteering or work skill as part of their course. In 2017, the Careers Service was ranked 4th in the UK by the International Student Barometer. Additionally, 96.4 percent of graduates enter employment or additional study within six months of graduation (Destination of Leavers from Higher Education, UK 2016/17).
