University of Buckingham

The University of Buckingham was established in 1976 and is distinctive. It is the only autonomous university in the UK with a Royal Charter, and probably the smallest with around 2,700 students (approx 1,600 on campus). Honors degrees are completed in two rigorous years of study. The university keeps class sizes small, with a student to scholastic staff ratio of 10.4:1, and the Oxbridge style tutorial groups are often identified and always thrilling.

Buckingham campus is well recognized for being one of the most appealing locations in the region. The Great Ouse river, home to much wildlife, winds through the heart of its campus. Much of the teaching takes place in the university’s reinstated buildings such as the Franciscan Building, formerly a friary, and, Chandos Road Building, a converted turn-of-the-century milk factory, while students can also relish the Hunter Street Library, once military barracks. The academic organization of the university consists of five colleges, namely the School of Commerce, the School of Law, the School of Arts, the School of Art and Language and the School of Science and Medicine. In addition, two esteemed research centers are housed inside the grounds, the Center for Education and Jobs Research and the Center for Defense and Intelligence Studies. Students have ample opportunity to collaborate with experts in order to obtain realistic understanding of their field of study.
