Today's Royal Holloway consists of two colleges founded by Elizabeth Jesser Reid and Thomas Holloway, two social pioneers. They were among the first places where women were able to access higher education in Britain. Bedford College, London, opened its doors in 1849, and Queen Victoria unveiled the stunning Founder's Building of Royal Holloway College in 1886, which is now the focal point of the campus.
