In this program, you'll gain knowledge of the fundamentals of electrical and electronic engineering and study the building blocks that are the foundation of computer hardware and software engineering. Electronic technicians are required to complete two years of specialized education, leading to a Higher Certificate in Electronic Engineering. You'll be introduced to the fundamentals of electronics, computers, and software systems.

You will learn about analog and digital systems, engineering science, information communications, control systems, computer programming, and network engineering. Our first-year student mentor will meet with you weekly during your first year to assist with your transition to the third level. You'll be introduced to the fundamentals of electronics, computers, and software systems.

At the end of the program, you'll understand the operation of electronic and computer systems and be ready to work at the technician level in the industry or stay on to achieve further academic awards. A typical week consists of 24 contact hours. You'll spend around 60% of this time working with advanced equipment and software development systems in our laboratories.

And you'll work with lecturers on real problems from the industry, allowing you to develop professional engineering skills as you study the technical content of your program. On successful completion, you can choose your progression path between the BEng Programme in Electronic Engineering or the BEng Programme in Engineering Software.
