TRU's Kamloops and Williams Lake campuses are located on the traditional territory of the Secwepemc peoples, in British Columbia's southern interior. In Kamloops (from the Secwepemc word for a meeting of the water's), the main campus overlooks the junction of the North Thompson and South Thompson rivers, from that the university gets its name.
Located within the Sahali space on the city's southwest slopes, TRU is within walking distance from business districts and residential areas, and not far away to Kamloops largest recreational facility, Tournament Capital Centre, a good form of outside adventures and cultural events are minutes away, year-round. Thompson Rivers University offers hundreds of awards worth over a million dollars each year to TRU students. Entrance scholarships and awards are available to Canadian citizens or permanent residents, Unless otherwise mentioned in the award (e.g. entrance certificates, trades, vocational training, university preparation), all awards are for full-time students who have already completed at least one full-time semester at Thompson Rivers University. The Awards for Trades and Technical Programs are available to TRU candidates for the first time.
