Founded in 1980, TAFE's Sunraysia Institute is one of North-West Victoria's largest providers of vocational education and training. It proffers a wide variety of vocational courses to help potential students get ready for work.
Some of the courses offered are in the areas of skill shortages, including horticulture, conservation, and land management, agriculture, irrigation, industry, transportation and distribution, health and community services, commercial cooking and hospitality, construction and, engineering, automotive, and other industries. The Institute also specializes in teaching in digital, visual arts as well as language and literacy.
Today, SuniTAFE is a vibrant institute with two main campuses at Mildura and Swan Hill, a Robinvale rural campus, and a Cardross training farm near Mildura. The Institute's scope now reaches well beyond the limits of its geographic position through the use of technology and a dedication to developing educational collaborations that increase opportunities for students.

It has more than 8,000 local students studying from 16 countries and many foreign students. The Student Support Services department of the institute provides students and staff across all SuniTAFE campuses with free and confidential services. Services include help for disabilities, documentation, tools, counseling, and referral services that address the needs of individual students.
SuniTAFE has established a community collaboration with variety of organizations so as to produce students with educational scholarships. Sunraysia Institute of TAFE and Chances for children Scholarship, this scholarship would offer students with $5,000 a year in support. The Sunraysia Institute of TAFE and Temba Orchards Scholarship is another sort of scholarship, which provides $1,500 each year. Together with these scholarships, there are another forms of scholarships provided by the institute, Destination Australia Scholarships for domestic students, Destination Australia Scholarships for international students, and Albert Heslop Memorial Travel Grant.
