The Career Ready team is the place to go if students need guidance improving their CV, advice on how to find a job, interview practice, or one-to-one career counseling. La Trobe provides a wide range of support services so that, as soon as they arrive, foreign students feel at home in Australia.
These provide residential mentors to help first-year students move seamlessly into a foreign country's university life, an International Student Advisory Network, and one-to-one assistance on everything from visa problems to research workload issues.
Students can choose from nine different places on campus, which means they have a preference for what works best for them. There's something for everyone from the campus in Melbourne, the most livable city in the country, to the smaller Mildura campus, the site of the La Trobe Freshwater Research Center, or the Sydney campus.
La Trobe is a brilliant home away from home for foreign students, with over 7,000 overseas students from 110 different nations, over 20 official university sports clubs and a large variety of societies to get involved with.
The university has increased the range and amount of scholarship, they offer, so if the students either want to go for an undergraduate and postgraduate course or postgraduate research, there is a scholarship for every eligible student. An Australian Government initiated, Destination Australia, this scheme offers a high quality learning experience and supports new international students. The scholarships are worth up to $15 000 per annum for four years. High achieving international students are eligible for the La Trobe International scholarship which provides a 25 percent reduction in some of the course fees.
