Step 4: Set Up Username and Password

The next step is to enter Username, Password, Security Question and henceforth, for generation of login information.

Once the details are filled in, an account will be created, which has to be reviewed with all correct information and submitted. Email verification link will also be sent to your email address, for verification purposes.

Step 5: Register for Your Appointment

After creation of the account, sign in to ETS GRE website. When logging in, you will be directed to your personal GRE Home page, which will include the information provided. Click on the blue register button to start the GRE Registration process.

Step 6: Selection of GRE Exam Date and Time

You will be redirected to a page with a bunch of test policy information. An important thing is, after selection of date and test center, you will get 20 minutes to complete the registration process otherwise it will be canceled.

Step 7: Verification of Your Details

At the end of the registration process, you will need to confirm the following information: personal details, choose whether you would use GRE Search Service, which would allow universities to contact you for admissions and enter background information for choosing test prep material.

Step 8: Payment of Registration Fee

After entering all the required information, you will be directed to a new payment page and you can select the method of payment: Debit Card, Credit Card or so forth.

Things to Note for GRE Registration

  1. The GRE Exam fee is INR 22,550 for the General Test and INR 14,500 for Subject Test.
  2. You need to go through the policies which are related to GRE Rescheduling and GRE Cancellation Process.
  3. Candidates who are going to book the GRE Test from India, need to have a valid Indian passport and it is essential to note that the first and last names match the GRE application forms passport as well.
  4. GRE Subject Test is offered in two-week windows for April, September and October, on the basis of first come and first serve.
  5. A buffer of at least 12 days is required for score reporting while scheduling your tests so that one is able to meet the deadlines of application to which they are applying.
  6. Scores can be sent to 4 graduate institutions for free if selected on the day of the test. Additional test score reports can be shared but at the cost of an additional fee.
  7. Candidates also at registration time determine the graduate institutions or the fellowship sponsors they prefer to share their scores with. This is inclusive of GRE test fee and a total of 4 recipients are included.

ETS launched the GRE at Home version during the Pandemic in 2019. The attributes of the test remain the same. The GRE at Home Registration fee is also the same as the GRE General Test. However, to take the test from home, system requirements should be met.

GRE Exam Dates 2024

GRE exam dates 2024 are available throughout the year and held on most days of the year. Experts are of the view that candidates should book their GRE test 60-90 days before the application deadline. Candidates should remember that the test can be taken once every 21 days, for up to five times within any continuous rolling period of 12-months.
