Application Process for Indian Students
Like other countries, Germany offers the option to submit an application online or by post. However, there are few universities which accept applications by post only. Unlike USA and the UK, there are still universities which run their personal online application platforms.
Either way, you will have to submit the application paperwork in PDF or JPG format.
University Admission Letter
Year on, German universities collect numerous international applications, therefore, the processing of your application takes time.
Student Visa
After receiving the admit letter, you must visit the Embassy with a hardcopy of this letter. The list of important documents for a German student visa for Indian students is below:
- University Admission Letter
- Proof of Financial Resources “Finanzierungsnachweis”
- Proof of Health Insurance Coverage
- University Entrance Qualification
- Proof of Language Proficiency
Out of these, the ‘German Blocked Account Confirmation Letter’ is a crucial document. It proves you have enough finances to study and live in Germany as an international student for one year. Last but not the least APTITUDE TEST -Test for Foreign Students (TestAS)
The TestAS is a standardised exam – help you realistically assess your chances of completing your degree programme successfully. Various universities use this score to compare the scholastic aptitude of their prospective students. Each university recognises the test results differently. The test encompasses three parts: the “onScreen” language test, ‘the Core Test’ and “subject-specific test modules”. A few German universities have integrated TestAS into their admission policies and thus taking this test can offer you advantages. For universities in North Rhine-Westphalia, the test serves as an admission examination for applicants who have not gained a university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur). With a TestAS, you can skip the pre-requisite of the foundation course. Several universities in Brandenburg also offer similar individualised admission procedures.
