Advanced Placement Exam Eligibility

Students in any of the categories below are eligible to take AP Exams at the secondary school where they’re enrolled or at other AP-authorized schools or test centers:

1. Students actively enrolled in secondary school.
2. Secondary school-level students who are homeschooled, participate in independent study, or attend a virtual school.
3. Actively enrolled students who may be prepared to take an AP Exam prior to the ninth grade.
4. Recent secondary school graduates who need a specific AP Exam for university admission.
5. Students outside the U.S. can take the AP exams at allocated centers.

Note: No prerequisite courses are required to be eligible for the AP exams. However, many are available, and it is highly recommended to enroll in one for guided coaching and better preparation.

AP Additional Testing Policies

There are several guidelines you need to follow if you are planning to sit for AP exams. The following guidelines are enforced to ensure consistency and fairness:

1. Students can take any or all of the four AP Physics exams in a given year.
2. AP exams cannot be retaken in the same year, though students may reattempt the following year if needed.
3. Students must choose either Calculus AB or Calculus BC, as both cannot be taken in the same year.
4. It is permitted to take Precalculus along with either Calculus AB or Calculus BC in the same year.
5. If two exams are scheduled for the same date and time, students must choose one to take first and then reschedule the other for the late-testing period if available.
6. For the AP Computer Science Principles exam, students must be enrolled in the AP course and complete all required portfolio work, in addition to the end-of-course exam, for a complete score.
7. All AP exams are held in person at designated test centers.

Additional ID Policies in India

1. Original IDs are a must to gain entry to test centers.
2. To gain entry into the AP exam center, candidates must carry their original and valid passports.
3. In case a valid, original passport isn’t available, students can bring their original Aadhar cards.
